Executive Assistant to Belonging Vice President

This position is a forward-facing, visible position representing the Office of Belonging and Vice President for Belonging. The role is highly collaborative and requires an individual that is articulate and able to develop strong university-wide relationships, while also leading strategy development and managing projects.

What you'll do in this position: 

  • Assist VP with strategy development and promoting a community of covenant belonging at BYU.
  • Research, gather data, and prepare reports and presentations for belonging initiatives, resource planning, and other presentations before the President's Council and other university leadership.
  • Manage VP complex collaborative belonging initiatives involving academic and academic support units that support "Becoming BYU" and creating a Christlike community of covenant belonging.
  • Manage Office of Belonging budget and seek development opportunities for Office of Belonging initiatives including experiential learning, and perform analysis, forecasting, and assessment.
  • Manage complex schedule for the VP, using independent judgment to prioritize, determine the appropriateness of requests, resolve conflicts, and make decisions on competing demands.
  • Serve as initial contact for the VP and handle items or determine when to refer to other departments or escalate to the VP for resolution.
  • Coordinate and monitor administrative functions of the Office of Belonging.
  • Oversee and assist with processing expense reconciliations and office expenses.
  • Serve as designated human resources coordinator; manage job postings, hiring process, Y-Time, annual Performance and Development Plan Coordinator. 

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Bachelor's degree OR 5 years' equivalent work experience (including at least 2 years of working with an executive.)
  • Strong commitment and alignment with the objectives of the BYU Statement on Belonging and the Office of Belonging's vision, guiding principles, and gospel-centered approach to belonging.
  • Required: Excellent written and oral communication skills including experience with editing and with creating PowerPoint presentations.

Preferred

  • Master's degree. Work experience in a supervisory role in higher education.
