Position Details:

The Opportunity:

As the Exchange Specialist you will participate as a member of the Office of International Programs (IP) and Global Learning team to facilitate educational, outreach and training opportunities for WSU students to achieve global and cultural competencies. You will advise WSU students on global learning opportunities including education abroad, internships, service learning, global leadership certificate, and other related programs including scholarships. You will have the opportunity to coordinate student exchange programs with WSU’s international partners and collaborate with other IP staff and WSU departments and colleges to enhance global competencies for the WSU community.

This position is located on the WSU Pullman Campus. The appointment may be eligible for up to 16 hours of remote work per week after initial training has been completed.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

  • Work experience in higher education student services or academic advising. 

  • Demonstrated leadership skills or experience.

  • Public speaking experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency/skills using Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrated knowledge with web-based search tools and applications, as well as data management.

  • Willingness and ability to work outside of regular business hours of operation, including during evenings and on weekends as necessary.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in related field.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of international higher education, including education abroad programs and best practices in global studies, leadership training, academic advising, and the assessment of global learning outcomes. 

  • Demonstrated experience as a systems-thinker and ability to manage multiple projects at once. 

  • Experience with student record, billing and course enrollment systems in higher education.

  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative professional relationships with faculty and administrators, both on-campus and with national and international partners in higher education.

Monthly Salary: $3,750.85 - $4,014.58 | In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
