Job Summary 

Drexel College of Medicine is hiring an Examination Reader which provides special testing services for students with certain disabilities. This position will read the text of high stakes Medical Examinations in person to qualifying students.

Essential Functions 

  • Ability to read aloud clearly, at a normal pace and with good pronunciation for a sustained period of time (up to 6 hours).
  • Familiarity with the words, terms, symbols or signs that are specific to Medical Education
  • Ability to follow instructions to read, verbatim, only the words on the screen, without changing or adding words or assisting the test taker in selecting a response.
  • Willingness to be patient and to understand that the test taker may need many test questions repeated several times.
  • Ability to work with the test taker comfortably and compatibly without creating unnecessary pressure or unrealistic expectations.

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree.
  • Knowledge and ability to speak Medical Terminology clearly for up to 6 hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the words, terms, symbols, or signs that are specific to Medical Education

Physical Requirements 

  • Typically sitting at a desk/table.
  • Typically standing, walking.

Additional Information 

This is a Part-time Temporary position classified as Non-Exempt.  The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
