Job Summary
We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: EWU Aspire Manager
The EWU Career Center provides students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to successfully bridge the gap between their educational and professional careers. Building authentic campus and community partnerships is at the heart of our work.
The Manager of EWU Aspire coordinates and implements all elements of the program. EWU Aspire connects EWU undergraduate students with local high school students to support post-secondary access and career planning efforts. The program’s dual-focus approach strives not only to help these high school students realize their educational and professional goals, but also provide EWU students with professional experience and teach them about important social issues through a unique, hands-on experience. EWU Aspire opportunities include paid near-peer mentoring, internships, training and volunteer opportunities. The Aspire program is starting Spring 2022 with its first pilot school and hopes to have 20 partner schools by 2030.

About Eastern Washington University

Conditions of Employment

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree; focus in education, social work, communication, or related field preferred
  • Experience with community outreach and relationship building
  • Experience with collecting and analyzing data – creating reports and presenting findings to leadership and other stakeholders
  • Experience managing a team of up to 5 staff members
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large projects in coordination with internal and external entities
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion on campus and in the community
  • Demonstrated interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.
Preferred Qualifications

    Oversee implementation and administration of EWU Aspire opportunities in regional K-12
    public schools
    • Oversees implementation and administration of EWU Aspire opportunities including advising and outreach strategies, curriculum development, budget management, program operations and assessment efforts.
    • Recruits, interviews, and hires staff, provides training, assigns and reviews work, conducts performance reviews, and takes corrective action as needed.
    • Provides overall supervision of 2 Graduate Student Assistants and 2 AmeriCorps members.
    • Oversees recruitment, training, professional development and course curriculum for undergraduate student leaders and mentors (near-peer mentoring).
    • Manages relationships with school districts throughout Spokane County.
    • Collaborate with EWU Career Center’s Associate Director of Employer and Community Outreach to align broader EWU Aspire and employer relations objectives.
    • Oversees research and evaluation of new EWU Aspire K-12 partnerships.
    • Conducts annual evaluation and assessment of EWU Aspire efficacy at the individual and broader program levels – provides detailed report of findings to campus and community leadership.
    • Promotes community service and oversees the work and leadership of over 200 undergraduates who work and serve across all EWU Aspire partner schools in Spokane County each year.
