Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
University Development’s purpose is to support the mission of the university by raising private resources to enhance financial support for students, faculty, programs, and facilities. University Development provides leadership and centralized services to all development offices throughout the University, serving as a focal point for annual giving, application development and IT support; campaign management; constituent programs; corporate and foundation relations; donor relations; gift planning; gift services; industry relations; marketing/communications; parents giving; principal gifts; prospect management, research and analytics; regional programs; scholarships and student aid; talent management; university events; and volunteer engagement.

Position Summary
The Events Support Specialist provides a variety of administrative and client support to the Office of Development Engagement and Events. Primarily, the individual will support event professionals in their planning, execution and follow up activities related to an assortment of events organized through the University Events Office. The position is customer facing and requires a highly professional, enthusiastic, and team-oriented individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Excellent written and verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize workload.
Experience with Microsoft Office tools and internet research required.
Ability to manage large print jobs such as nametags, envelopes and other materials from several sources and on different types of printers. 
Experience with Zoom required and other virtual meeting platforms a plus.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to think proactively and remain calm in dynamic situations.
Creativity and ability to work own initiative and meet deadlines.
Excellent team player with the ability to work individually.
Have a pro-active and can-do attitude, especially under pressure.
Maintain and manage databases, mostly Excel and timelines, files.
Accurately maintain expense datasheets and files.
Must have reliable transportation to travel to various events.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience and/or familiarity within a higher education setting. Experience with Content Management Systems, Web Forms, and Broadcast email tools. Experience with Excel Pivot Tables. Wordpress for basic updating. Basic HTML and CSS skills as it pertains to email. Proficiency with web-based invitation platforms, such as Paperlesspost.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods of time and move items 30-50 pounds with or without accommodation.
