Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Dean’s Office provides oversight for the Adams School of Dentistry and serves as the liaison to the University, citizens, alumni and friends.
Position Summary
The Events Coordinator will manage the vision, planning, and implementation of a comprehensive, school wide events program at UNC Adams School of Dentistry, including in-person and virtual events, fundraising events, student events, staff and faculty events, and large scale events, such as Commencement and White Coat ceremonies. The Events Coordinator will work with a budget up to $250,000 and collaborate with a variety of ASOD departments and divisions, as well as senior University administrative offices, schools, divisions, and units across campus to ensure that events appropriately represent the University, and work with vendors directly, as needed. This position will manage event timelines and budgets, establish a standardized events plan, create best practices for events and work closely with Academic Affairs, Advancement, Continuing Dental Education, Dean’s Office, Financial Affairs, Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities and Support Services to manage, promote, market and inform about events. This position will also help support staff and faculty recruitment efforts and site visits.This position works across all communications platforms – printed, electronic and online. The Events Coordinator will work closely with the Communications Team to create marketing materials and generate content for events and promote both internally and externally while maintaining the school and University style, standards and policies. Occasionally, this role will require the ability to work extended hours; including early morning, evenings and weekends.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Considerable experience in event planning. Successful candidates should have strong written and verbal communications skills, be proficient in Microsoft 365 office applications and visual design concepts, have demonstrated the ability to plan and execute high caliber events, be able to handle details in a fast-paced environment, and have outstanding customer service skills. Candidates must have a demonstrated experience with event budgets, requiring excellent analytical skills, extreme attention to detail and deadlines and the ability to prioritize and manage complex workflows. Candidates must be excellent communicators, able to manage time wisely and have demonstrated customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Knowledge/experience in Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress and Blackbaud database management
