Events Coordinator - College of Arts and Sciences, Advising Services

The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is looking for vibrant, dynamic individuals interested in working in a team environment dedicated to student success. The mission of Arts and Sciences Advising Services is to guide our diverse undergraduate population in developing and implementing sound educational plans that are consistent with their values and their academic and career goals

The Events Coordinator will support the Arts and Sciences Advising Services office in a variety of ways:

·         Support the Associate Director in the fulfillment of their responsibilities including scheduling appointments, preparing materials, and drafting correspondence.

·         To work alongside leadership in Arts & Sciences Advising Services to provide administrative coordination of events important to the College of Arts & Sciences. Including but not limited to new student advising, recruitment events, graduation and office meetings.  This work may include: scheduling rooms, working with vendors including UT Dining, collecting event RSVPs, ordering materials, scheduling, reporting, etc.

·         Receive and review requests for major, minor, concentration, and catalog year changes and set student profile data in our Student Information System.

·         In conjunction with fellow administrative coordinators in Arts & Sciences Advising Services, support the Arts and Sciences Advising Services office as a whole, including handling issues regarding office coverage, student appointment and tour scheduling, and becoming familiar with common questions and documents related to Arts & Sciences Advising Services.

·         To work effectively in a team environment and serve as a front-line resource to students, families, faculty, other advising staff, and student workers via office visit, phone, or email.

 



Qualifications

 

Required qualifications:

·         High School Diploma with some college/business courses

·         Two years experience in an administrative setting

·         Ability to utilize computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe, to create and edit documents and reports

·         Skilled in customer service, office management, and scheduling

·         Effective written and oral communications skills

·         Ability to organize and arrange complex data sets with attention to detail

 

Preferred qualifications:

·         Vocational or technical training, Associate's degree, or Bachelor’s degree

·         Work experience in a university environment

·         Work experience with an online scheduling system

·         Ability to thrive in a high-volume work environment

Preferred start date of March 2024 or until position is filled.
