Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking an Event Assistant! The Event Assistant executes the setup and teardown of conferences, meetings and events scheduled through campus Event Services.  Follow set drawings in staging tables, chairs, stages, and other peripherals.  Set up of existing audio/video equipment including initiating the room control system and setting audio and lighting levels.  Help presenter with microphone, computers, and other basic technology needs prior to and during the event.  Confirm conference rooms and offices are secured.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Follows set drawings provided by event facilitator to meet event setup requirements.
  • Maintains good public relations by providing good service in a safe and comfortable environment for students, visitors and employees. Acts as the second level of event support for setup needs and escalate technical issues.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent. Part-time experience will be prorated.
Preferred Qualifications    
Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree and 1 year experience related to the summary of duties; or any combination of education and experience related to the summary of duties totaling three years.


Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

Knowledge    

  • Knowledge in proper cleaning methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques pertaining to part-time hires.
  • Working knowledge of sound and lighting equipment helpful.
Skills    
  • Skills in set-up and storage of technical equipment.
  • Skills for effective interpersonal communication.
Abilities    
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
