Job Summary: The Event Assistant works alongside the Greek Assembly Hall Building Manager to ensure that events are set up and ready to meet client’s expectations. Sets up and takes down tables and chairs based off the daily event sheet/calendar. Places tablecloths on tables. Provides customer service to students, clients, and visitors at the Greek Assembly Hall information desk. Answers questions via telephone and in person. Collects, logs, and stores lost and found items properly in the office. Maintains cleanliness and upholds standards. Communicates with housekeeping, building managers, and professional staff. Learns Greek Assembly Hall policies, procedures, and operations of the facility. Learns Greek Assembly Hall rules and job expectations. Knowledge of the different room orientations and equipment available. Learns basic emergency procedures. Maintains proper appearance and attire to represent the Greek Assembly Hall. Remains engaged in the guest traffic and refrains from wearing earbuds/headphones to distract from assisting guests. Maintains composure and professionalism. Additional duties as assigned.


Additional Department Summary: Event Assistants are responsible for their shifts as soon as the schedule is published. Time off requests must be submitted 2 weeks prior to the requested dates. If an assistant requests time off after schedule is published, it is their responsibility to get the shift covered. If the shift is not covered ahead of time, they are expected to be at work. All trades and changes to a published schedule must be approved by the Building Manager.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama graduate student. Ability to work independently and with a group to ensure the job completion.


Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
