Franklin University has a full-time position available as an Event and Meeting Services Specialist.  This individual will serve as the point of contact for internal and external groups wishing to reserve or rent space for the purposes of holding a meeting or an event; be responsible for scheduling these groups and enforcing university guidelines associated with the reserving or renting of space; assist in developing budgets and logistical processes to accommodate University functions; organize and manage university- wide events; assist in the development and implementation of new processes, procedures and strategies to allow the service to expand and become a greater revenue source for the university.

The selected individual will also help to oversee and coordinate the daily meeting services operations and events; develop and maintain relationships with catering, meeting services and entertainment groups that can support the university’s needs; and develop and maintain relationships with the community to promote the university’s meeting spaces and services.

We seek someone with a minimum of 2 years of event planning experience, a strong customer-centered philosophy and has proficiency with Word and Excel.  Candidates should be able to work with minimal supervision, be detail-oriented, organized, capable of managing projects, dependable, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work effectively in a multitasked team environment.  Previous marketing and sales experience would be a plus in this position.

In addition, a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license are required.  A satisfactory motor vehicle report is also required for this position in order to drive a University vehicle.  The valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle report must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.  Candidates must also be able to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation and may be required to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends in order to fulfill the duties of the position.
