Job Description

The primary role of this position is to serve as the evening shift audio-visual technician for Classroom Audio Visual Services. Reporting to the Manager of Classroom Audio Visual Services under the University Registrar, this person is responsible for providing support in the form of end user meetings, system testing, preventative maintenance, and AV system repair in spaces under the purview of Classroom Audio Visual Services including general assignment classrooms, departmental spaces, conference rooms, and boardrooms. This position requires a high level of technical knowledge in regards to audio, video, and control systems. The person in this position will be responsible for troubleshooting issues reported by end users or found during system testing and locate a solution in a timely manner. This position will provide assistance and support as needed for Classroom Audio Visual Services operations. The Evening Audio Visual Systems Technician will be responsible for managing work study students to help aid in their duties when applicable.

The person in this position must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to articulate AV issues and solutions with end users (layman terms) and other AV team members (AV technical terminology). The position will be a part of a team, but will require the person to be independent in may cases. This position will be supporting end users in the form of faculty, staff, students, and guests of the University.

Position Responsibilities:
•Provide preventative maintenance to AV systems including testing and cleaning
•Test each AV system as required or requested
•Meet end users to help them work through issues within a given space or spaces
•Effectively create and update help desk tickets once tasks have been completed
•Provide support and recommendations to end users for in-person, remote, and hybrid instructional solutions
•Troubleshoot any reported or found issues in any of the supported spaces as assigned
•Update and help maintain an accurate inventory should components need to be changed
•Install AV components as needed and perform a thorough test once installation is completed
•Manage work study students to assist in tasks noted above

Required Qualifications

•Several years experience in the audio visual industry
•Experience in customer support related to AV systems
•Basic knowledge of AV signal flow
•Experience in troubleshooting AV components and systems
•Experience with various web-conferencing and lecture capture applications
•Experience providing rapid and effective support to end users
•Experience documenting issues and resolutions through a ticketing system
•Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
•Ability to operate comfortably in high stress environments
•Experience with Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android computer systems
•Demonstrated ability work within a team and independently to achieve goals
•Must be able to move or lift a minimum of 50 pounds
•Must be able to work from ladders or scaffolding as required
•Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience in higher education
•Experience with use and programming of Crestron and QSC components
•Industry certifications are preferred
-Avixa – CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D
-Crestron
-QSC
-Other manufacturer certifications
•Basic IT networking experience

Salary is commensurate with experience up to an expected budget max of $45,000
