The National Center for School Mental Health, within the University of Maryland’s Department of Psychiatry, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry on the UMB campus, is seeking an Evaluation Assistant (Clinical Research Assistant) to join their team.  The position will support Maryland’s Coordinated Community Support Partnerships, a new state-wide initiative focused on expanding access to comprehensive behavioral health and wraparound services for Maryland Students.  


The mission of the National Center for School Mental Health (NCSMH) is to strengthen policies and programs in school mental health to improve learning and promote success for America's youth. From its inception in 1995, the Center's leadership and interdisciplinary staff has promoted the importance of providing mental health services to children, adolescents, and families directly in schools and communities. The selected candidate will perform duties that support the mission and vision of the department.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform data collection including development, dissemination, collection and monitoring of paper and electronic surveys, administrative data, and research interviews. Collect baseline and follow-up data from subjects including verification of eligibility; obtaining consent and enrollment; assuring accurate demographic information for follow-up. Check validity and accuracy of data ensuring compliance with quality control requirements and clinical relevance.
  • Establish and maintain database files and reports on progress of programs, studies, and/or projects. Perform data analysis and interpretation.
  • Assist in developing and recommending policies and procedures and/or methods for clinical research activities.
  • May perform administrative duties such as: assisting in developing and submitting grants, papers, abstracts, manuscripts and presenting studies; developing protocol manuals and data collection instruments; procuring equipment and supplies; participating in field visits, responding to requests and questions from individuals, institutions, government agencies, and funding agencies; and participating in the design of research studies, attending research meetings and attending weekly project meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 
 

Qualifications

  

Education: Bachelor's degree Psychiatry, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Public Health, or in a scientific field of study related to the research of the clinical setting.
Experience: Prior clinical research experience preferred.
Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.

The Hiring Range for this position is in the mid $40,000s to low $50,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
