Title: Equity Associate for the OMEGA Program

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Working with Equity Officer [EO] to engage community members from identified underserved communities to participate in clinical trials for medical device(s) related to osteoarthritis. Identify, engage, and communicate with community leaders in providing access to community members for educational and project recruitment. Assist in the coordination, development, planning, and organizing educational symposia. Applying culturally competent research methodology for the collection of participant data and manage data analysis, dissemination, and management.
OMEGA (Orchestrating Multifaceted Engineering for Growing Artificial Joints) is a megaproject that involves more than a dozen academic institutions, companies, and consulting entities around the nation. OMEGA’s mission is to reduce an artificial knee joint concept to practice. The consortium has a significant footprint in Northeastern Ohio by way of inclusion of eleven faculty members from Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals of Cleveland and the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veteran’s Administration Medical Center. Developmental efforts for transitioning the concept as a clinical product will keep the equitable translation of the technology at the forefront.

CONTACTS
Department: Continuous contact with the EO.
University: Regular contact with faculty, staff, and research personnel in assigned departments, schools, and the central administration who are associated with the OMEGA program.
External: Community groups/leaders (regular), moderate contact with healthcare personnel in local hospitals who are affiliated with the OMEGA program.
Students: Infrequent contact with graduate students and student employees.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise PhD students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Background in social sciences. Three to five years relevant experience in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion is preferred. Work experience in underserved/vulnerable communities is desired. Experience with data analysis, collection, management, and storage systems.
Education/Licensing: A PhD or equivalent in social sciences or related fields is preferred.
