Posting Summary

In November 2017, the Camden Coalition and Rutgers Law School launched an MLP to better address the health-related social needs of community members involved in the Coalition’s complex care interventions. A consulting attorney joined the Coalition’s complex care team alongside nurses, social workers, and community health workers. After almost two years of serving the community, the MLP is poised to expand its service. The Equal Justice Works Research Associate will be working for the Rutgers Medical Legal Partnership, (MLP) in collaboration with the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers to provide direct legal services to MLP clients, deepen collaboration among caregivers, and advocate for systems change for people who have complex health and social needs and are living in poverty in Camden, NJ. The attorney will also provide advice, counsel and advocacy to patients.

Minimum Education and Experience

•Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
•Requires a minimum of three to five years of relevant professional experience in an administrative and/or supervisory function, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.

•Requires a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education/experience in the discipline. A master’s degree in a specialized discipline may be required, particularly in research, project management or managerial positions.
•Requires a minimum of five years experience and/or increasing functional responsibility in a leadership/managerial role. With a master’s degree requirement, a minimum of three years of related experience is acceptable.
•Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• A license to practice law, with good
standing, in any state.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license
and access to a vehicle.
• At least one year experience in
healthcare law.
• Excellent oral and written
communication skills.
