The EOSE Marketing Director (DMC) serves as the primary leader providing oversight for MarCom needs of the Office of Education Outreach, Social Entrepreneurship and reports to the EOSE Senior Director Operations and Creative Youth Development (SDOC). The DMC will oversee the planning and execution of successful marketing campaigns and multiple brands for Berklee City Music comprised annually of over 62,000 youth, to include but not limited to Berklee City Music Boston, Berklee City Music Network, the City Music Ambassadors, developing engagement strategies for City Music Alumni, contributions to 100,000+ teachers through Berklee PULSE, and Education Outreach, Social Entrepreneurship area maintaining a system of oversight of MARCOM general output, initiatives, and projects. The DMC is responsible for developing, planning, budgeting, overseeing identified accounts and implementing marketing strategies. The EOSE DMC is dedicated to making a social impact by contributing expert strategies to the marketing and customer constituent relationship activities, providing market feedback to leadership regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs and the generation of product development ideas, working in consort with External Affairs, Digital Strategies, Berklee Online and Enrollment departments.
The DMC creates, implements and measures the success of comprehensive marketing and communications strategies to enhance City Music and EOSE’s image and position within the college, marketplace and the general public. The DMC must show flexibility and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, idea-driven, and creative environment and is expected to uphold the missions and values established by Berklee College of Music, Berklee City Music, EOSE. The DMC has a sense of curiosity, a sense of urgency to respond to calls, emails and constituents, disciplined follow-up creative varied ways to positively engage constituents, outgoing, energetic and determined, honest, friendly, offering a value beyond what is expected, professional at all times, trustworthy, confident and enthusiastic. S/he will supervise the EOSE Digital Media, Web and Special Projects Manager, multiple teams of work-study students and manage contracted hires in order to increase the visibility of the Office of Education Outreach, Social Entrepreneurship by providing editorial support, creative guidance, and project management for high priority web, video, and publicity projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement an effective marketing strategy, providing timely regular reporting on economic and social indicators that determine current and future needs on behalf of the programs and Berklee institution, with an analysis on marketing impact relative to business strategies, developing improvement plans using KPIs or other various capture methods to inform business development and appropriate growth.
• Work collaboratively with the SDOC to develop ventures that advance the social mission through entrepreneurial revenue strategies to invest into scholarships, college affordability and career pathways for youth and teachers, creative youth development, performing arts, and instructional technologies, and program operations, contributing to the development of business plans that sustain funding and resources.
• Provide editorial oversight for significant Education Outreach, Social Entrepreneurship MARCOM materials ensuring their quality and consistency with a system of support. Furnishes marketing advice, counsel and general staff support to all departments within the EOSE organization. The DMC will also assist with design, development, and implementation of marketing collateral.
• Establish online communications strategy using various communications channels to include supporting the Berklee City Music, Berklee City Music Network brands and contribute to Berklee PULSE. Serve as the Office of Education Outreach, Social Entrepreneurship’s primary point of contact with contracted PR firms as well as with the Office of Media Relations.
• Working collaboratively with the EOSE leadership team, pitch educational products and services to new clients, organizations; recognizing and persistently pursuing new opportunities that serve the mission, working collaboratively on oversight of operations to build structure, facilitate, and execute projects,
initiatives, trainings and other endeavors as assigned.
• Responsible for planning, research, forecasting, and implementing marketing programs and promotions to increase the visibility of the program, establishing and maintaining a collaborative process that includes input from and support of EOSE staff.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field, understanding of the performing arts— experience in the arts, with 5-10 years of demonstrated progressively responsible professional marketing experience. A minimum 2 years managing/developing full-time staff reports preferred; experience in the secondary education, vocational or higher education, knowledge/experience in the performing arts a plus; 3-5 years’ experience in project oversight from inception to completion, with capabilities in agile disruptive projects,
ADMI certification preferred. 2-3 years of experience in public relations, with a strong track record of successes.
2. The DMC will possess the creative talent and practical skills to complete large and complex projects in a timely manner; it is essential that the DMC demonstrate a commitment to projects, as well as sensitivity, integrity and
confidence in an effort to effectively represent EOSE. The DMC will provide support to activities, updates, and milestones for the City Music program in achieving strategies and annual goals.
3. Experience building and sustaining relationships, seeking and managing business vendor relationships, above 5 years a plus.
4. Demonstrated excellent oral, interpersonal, writing, presentation and communications skills—professional comfort with communicating; bilingual verbal and writing skills a plus; demonstrated excellence in communications with cross-generations with intercultural awareness, experience in connecting with adolescent youth and young adults a plus.
5. An understanding of business venture social entrepreneurship as making an impact - demonstrated a plus.
6. Demonstrated integrity, trust, leadership and service skills, confidence and patience in collaboration.
7. Strong business acumen and work and service ethic--team builder, adaptable, team player, collegial, motivator, self-motivated, self-starter, with the demonstrated capability to focus with a full commitment to the Berklee City

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsible for planning and implementing marketing strategy to increase the visibility of the program, establishing and maintaining a process.
2. With broad oversight from the SDOC, work collaboratively with the EOSE Leadership team to develop ventures that advance the social mission through entrepreneurial revenue strategies to invest into scholarships, college affordability and career pathways for youth and teachers, creative youth development, performing arts, and instructional technologies, and program operations, contributing to the development of business plans that sustain funding and resources.
3. Project manage select strategic initiatives and/or events for the EOSE area to support the expansion of Popular Music Education into public schools and the growth of the City Music model.
4. Responsible for planning, research, forecasting, and implementing marketing programs and promotions to increase the visibility of the program, establishing and maintaining a collaborative process that includes input from and support of EOSE staff.
5. Maintain high level of communication with internal and external partners, team members, and stakeholders.
6. Prepare an annual summary of projects, evaluating the success of each initiative and maintaining documentation of all projects and best practices.
7. Oversight through supervision of the Web and Special Projects Manager for the department’s web presence and content management system including BerkleeCityMusicNetwork.org and Education Outreach, Social Entrepreneurship sections of Berklee.edu. The MD will manage website editing, multimedia content creation, and the design of new sites. Manage the department’s social media accounts – including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube – to showcase the work of Berklee City Music National, Berklee City Music Boston, and Community Affairs and Campus Engagement.
8. With input from the SDOC, work to establish the strategic placement of video content on the BCM YouTube channel, including the development of engaging content for our defined audience, designing series and segment features, overseeing channel filming and production, and overseeing the management of the

8. Equally comfortable with detailed analysis and research on a project-based level as with ‘big-picture’ strategic considerations and priorities within the EOSE area.
9. Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to navigate new issues and challenges.
10. Proven ability to handle sensitive data with discretion, creatively solve problems, and both design and improve processing in an expanding operation.
11. Must be able to negotiate with outside vendors.
12. Excellent writing, research and organizational skills; high attention to detail; ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated experience in proofreading, editing and reformatting documents.
13. Demonstrated familiarity with all styles of contemporary music, performing arts and current musical trends.
14. Talent relations experience and strong interpersonal skills; capacity to develop extensive entertainment, media relationships.
15. Dress and decorum consistent with a professional office environment in multiple modalities.
