General Information
James Madison University’s Facilities Management is accepting applications for a Environmental Services Operation Manager. This is regularly a weekday position, plus overtime as required. These hours may vary in the summer due to the summer modified schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages, coordinates, and oversees all duties associated with the recruitment, hiring, transfer and separation of Environmental Services employees.
  • Manages and oversees the equipment inventory, building inspections, hazardous waste and blood-borne removal.
  • Manages the entire process of data entry into the AiM system and additional software programs for Environmental Services ensuring accuracy and completeness in managing information.
  • Completes administrative functions for Environmental Services.
  • Orders equipment for Environmental Services and maintains oversight of the corresponding purchase orders.
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Director to secure orders for salt required for snow removal. Arrange accommodations, including booking necessary hotel rooms, for the team during snow removal operations.
  • Monitors and records the quantity of trees planted in each designated zone, as well as the corresponding number of trees that have been removed, as part of the Tree USA initiative.
  • Manages and oversees the successful implementation of all training initiatives within the Environmental Services department.
  • Manages and provides effective management to the Environmental Services Bilingual Training Inspectors and administrative office team.
  • Supports the Garage Manager in daily operations of the garage.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Ability to learn computerized maintenance management systems (AiM).
  • Knowledge and experience with recruitment procedures and processes.
  • Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA laws and DEQ/EPA as related to blood borne pathogens and hazardous waste.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work with all types of personalities.
  • Applicants must be at least 19 years old and possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 24 consecutive months with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
