Description

EDM’s Environmental Services group helps utilities reduce harmful wildlife-power line interactions to benefit service reliability, regulatory compliance, public safety, wildfire risk reduction, and wildlife conservation. We are seeking an Environmental Scientist to help us achieve these goals. The individual will be based out of our Fort Collins Office, and initially will work extensively near Las Cruces, New Mexico. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated scientist or power systems professional who appreciates a balance of field and office, solitude, and outward engagement. While specialized experience with wildlife and/or overhead power systems would be helpful, we need an adaptable and entrepreneurial individual who is committed to growing their own skills and the position. EDM will train the right individual.

Qualifications

EDM will tailor the position to match the individual. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply, even if they do not possess all the listed qualifications. The best candidate may not have experience in all areas. • Scientific training (B.S. or M.S.). or background (e.g., tech/lineman) in a relevant field. • Wildlife biology degree, Associate Wildlife Biologist, or Certified Wildlife Biologist. • Power transmission/distribution or vegetation management field experience. • Interest in core subject matter (birds, power systems, environmental compliance). • Willingness to travel.
