Position Summary:
The School of Engineering & Technology at Central Michigan University (CMU) seeks an experienced and dynamic individual for a Fixed Term position in the Environmental Engineering program. This position is part-time for 9 months (August through May). Duties include in-person and/or online instruction, grading assigned coursework, holding regular office hours, and attending department meetings. The appointment will begin in the fall semester of 2024.
Responsibilities:

  • Teach 2-3 undergraduate courses and laboratories in Environmental Engineering per semester. Courses include but are not limited to, Biological Processes in Environmental Engineering, Physicochemical Processes in Environmental Engineering, Thermodynamics, Water and Wastewater Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Solid and Hazardous Waste Engineering, Heat Transfer, and Environmental Engineering laboratory.
  • Participate in activities related to ABET accreditation of the Environmental Engineering program.
  • Advise senior design project teams.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in environmental, or other closely related, engineering field; ABD candidates will be considered if degree completion is assured before duties commence.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses and laboratories in environmental engineering.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • An undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering.
  • Ph.D. with academic experience in Biological Processes in Environmental Engineering, Physicochemical Processes in Environmental Engineering, Thermodynamics, Water and Wastewater Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Solid and Hazardous Waste Engineering, Heat Transfer.
  • Previous teaching experience at the university level.
  • Relevant industrial or government experience.
  • Professional Engineering licensure

About the Department:
The School of Engineering and Technology (SET) is housed in the College of Science and Engineering (CSE). SET has four undergraduate Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, and Environmental Engineering), three undergraduate Engineering Technology (Industrial, Mechanical, and Product Design Engineering Technology), and a graduate (MS in Engineering) program. SET presently has 24 full-time faculty members. Courses are taught in an attractive 70,000-square-foot engineering & technology building which houses more than twenty laboratories and support spaces.
