The Program Specialist 2 (Entry Navigator) works under general supervision and reports to the Director of the Welcome Center Department. The overall focus of the Entry Navigator’s work is to assess prospective students’ needs, develop specialized one-on-one and group services, provide campus-wide referrals, and guide prospective students toward educational solutions that are responsive to these needs. The nature of the work requires an ability to interpret and work in accordance with college rules, policies, and regulations, as well as state and federal regulations for financial aid and other funding purposes. This position is in person four days a week with one remote day.

Position Salary Range: $44,568/year - $59,508/year

The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Individuals newly hired to Classified position are placed in a salary range based on the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This is a Classified, overtime eligible position and represented by the Washington Public Employee Association of Higher Education (WPEA-HE).

The Welcome Center Department supports the mission of Bellevue College (BC) by providing high-quality community outreach, regional partnerships, admission guidance, and prospective student support through the use of technology, information sessions, outreach events, and campus tours.

Entry Services Requirements and Admission Guidance 

  • Meet with prospective students to provide information about Bellevue College’s degrees and career pathways, help students determine if our programs meet their educational goals, and assist students in completing admissions materials.
  • Provide support for students regarding registration for first-quarter classes, admission requirements, and funding options based on individual circumstances.
  • Refer students to appropriate services and resources to support the entry process.
  • Collaborate with all college personnel to identify creative solutions to enhance students’ overall educational experience and to ensure seamless entry to the College.
  • Present “New Student Information” to students through scheduled sessions.
  • Maintain confidential student information and adhere to FERPA guidelines.
  • Make follow-up calls and respond to emails from prospective students who have shown an interest in BC.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Welcome Centers student workers such as answers questions, help with tours and information sessions. 
  • Provide support to the Welcome Center front desk as needed. 
  • Integrate learning from professional development to improve service delivery.


Transition students successfully into Bellevue College’s programs and aid in converting prospective students.

  • Refers students to Academic Advisors and other campus and community resources for exploring careers and pathways.
  • Connect with students who do not complete the admission process to ensure entry into a Bellevue College Program, improve current processes, and develop new plans to address emerging issues or barriers.
  • inform and promote student engagement through student life and other campus resources to help engage prospective students in BC campus life.
  • Communicate with prospective students through admission appointments important information such as dates, times and how to sign up for new student orientation and facilitate new student tours.

Outreach and Recruitment 

  • Participate, and represent the College in outreach efforts, which promote the College to high school students, faculty, and staff, and attend community outreach events, such as job and college fairs. 
  • Provide entry advice to prospective student applicants about opportunities available at Bellevue College that may include but not be limited to the admissions process, financial literacy, academic preparation, and first-quarter enrollment planning into the college.

  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. Experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team environment with diverse employees and student/customer groups.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills in the areas of collaboration, team participation, creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, and group planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, CRM, Target X, or Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computers for data entry, web applications, searching the internet, and troubleshooting basic computer issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain student satisfaction and relationships with academic departments and services offered.
     
  • Demonstrated experience in customer services, educational planning, and/or career advising in a higher education setting.
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated experience in student services in a community college setting or relaying information related to university transfer, admissions process, policies, articulations, and requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience using multiple modalities and Universal Design principles in one-on-one and group advising settings.
  • Demonstrated experience using degree audit systems and performing unofficial transcript reviews.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting and leading advising related workshops to students, college staff, and faculty.
  • Experience working within an integrated academic and career advising department or system; ability to articulate the relationship between college major and career exploration.
