What You Will Do
The selected applicants will use their knowledge of mechanical engineering technology principles to solve problems and execute an interesting, diverse and complex array of projects to meet the needs of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and our external customers. Applicants will be expected to have a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering technology or comparable experience.
These positions will be filled at either the Engineering Technologist 1 and/or 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Entry Level Mechanical Engineering Technologist (Engineering Technologist 1) ($77,300 - $126,000)

Additional Job Requirements for Entry Level - Early Career Mechanical Engineer (R&D Engineer 2):
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and 2 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation (including relevant experience gained in pursuit of a degree).
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation (including relevant experience gained in pursuit of a degree.
Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation): Reading vision, distance vision, ability to speak, ability to discriminate speech, ability to hear in a normal range, sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, typing or keyboarding.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
