Position Summary
The College of Business Administration at Central Michigan University invites applications for an entrepreneurship faculty member to begin service at the rank of Lecturer I, beginning August 19, 2024. The position is expected to teach four courses per semester. It is possible the candidate may receive a lighter teaching load in exchange for work with our Isabella Bank Institute for Entrepreneurship.
Examples of courses the candidate may teach include: (i) ENT 200, Introduction to Entrepreneurship; (ii) ENT 221, Marketing Strategies for Entrepreneurs; (iii) ENT 300, Digital Entrepreneurship; and/or (iv) ENT 495, Venture Development. Courses may be face-to-face and/or online. The candidate will also be active outside of the classroom by, for example: advising students, supporting CMU’s New Venture Competition, taking part in program assessment initiatives, developing and promoting CMU’s entrepreneurship offerings, and/or strengthening partnerships on and off campus.
Required Qualifications
The candidate must have: (i) an earned a master’s degree in a business or other discipline related to entrepreneurship; or, (ii) a relevant terminal degree (such as a Ph.D. or D.B.A in entrepreneurship or related business field or a J.D.). The candidate must also be able to satisfy the requirements for IP, SP, PA, or SA status under CMU’s AACSB Faculty Qualification Guidelines (found here ).
Lastly, the candidate must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate has: (i) experience coordinating or participating in pitch competitions, design challenges, hackathons and similar events; (ii) significant practical experience related to entrepreneurship (demonstrated by, for example, building companies and/or advising entrepreneurs in a professional capacity); and (iii) experience assisting students in turning ideas into new ventures. The preferred candidate has also taught in the online and face-to-face environments.

About the Department
Central Michigan University has operated an undergraduate entrepreneurship program since 1998 and formally established the Department of Entrepreneurship in 2014. In collaboration with the Isabella Bank Institute for Entrepreneurship, the Department of Entrepreneurship provides students with a curriculum and experiential learning opportunities that prepare them to, among other things, start new companies, lead family-owned business, and be intrapreneurs in established organizations. We offer an Entrepreneurship major, minor and certificate at the undergraduate level and a unique Master in Entrepreneurial Ventures degree at the graduate level.
