Our programs train the next generation of innovators to take real-world problems and improve the way people live and work. The Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) program is designed to bring successful entrepreneurs to Carnegie Mellon University’s (CMU) campuses to mentor and help CMU generated startup companies become successful. Project Olympus is the startup incubator program for Carnegie Mellon University. We help faculty, staff and students at all levels explore the commercial potential of their innovations and research. To that end, Project Olympus has a series of programs to expedite the learning and commercialization opportunities and is seeking to hire up to eight experienced Entrepreneurs-in-Residence to serve as part-time coaches/mentors for startups participating in our various programs. Preference will be given to candidates with extensive experience working in a startup or mentoring startups and/or domain expertise in robotics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, chemistry, cleantech/energy, electronics/semiconductors, software, medical devices/Biotech, Chemistry and material sciences as well as sales, marketing, startup law, manufacturing and fundraising/finances. This is a part-time position at 8 hours per week. NSF iCorps Site Program The CMU Site program recruits exploratory business ventures started by the faculty, staff, students and recent alumni, training up to 15 Site Teams per semester to accelerate business exploration and creation. The cirriculum focuses on agile innovation tied to customer discovery, and the program supplements the cirriculum with intensive netowrking, expert guidance and financial support for projects. The Site Program runs from Sept-Nov and Feb-April. $43.27/hour or $4,500/semester. Flexibility, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within the School of Computer Science. The successful candidate will have considerable experience creating and leading innovative business ventures. S/he will have demonstrated knowledge of and experience in early stage development and funding of companies, a history of building and maintaining critical relationships in the business and private capital sectors as well as a strong desire to develop and mentor entrepreneurs.
