Description

The Department of Agriculture, Plant Protection Division, is seeking a knowledgeable candidate for the position of Laboratory Assistant to assist with identifications of invasive insect survey samples for entomology programs. If you are interested in entomology and working in a lab, this may be the position for you, apply today! This position supports identifications of invasive insect survey samples for entomology programs by performing the following: Uses microscope and taxonomic keys to Identify insects from various samples (Training provided). Pins and curates insect specimens for PDA insect reference collection. Enters data from samples into required databases. Assists entomology staff with survey equipment management. Other entomology related duties as may be required. Maintain a laboratory log of activities.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS Candidate must be willing and able to work in Dauphin County, PA. Candidate must be willing to work a temporary Full-Time schedule without benefits. Candidate needs to be available to work up to 9 months, approximately from January 3rd, 2023, to September 30, 2023. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
