Organizational Unit Overview
Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS) is the central agency that supports enterprise-wide computing at East Carolina University. ITCS, through innovative information technology initiatives and service, provides opportunities for the ECU community to excel in teaching, research, and service using state-of-the-market technology and collaborative environments. ITCS is first and foremost committed to providing excellent information technology support for faculty, staff, and students. ITCS partners with campus departments, other universities, and industry to make strategic investments in information technology infrastructure that will help maintain a competitive advantage in administrative applications, faculty research, and outreach to the state and nation. We will achieve this through increasing the core functions and deploying appropriate technology throughout the university.
The primary mission of the Enterprise Systems Windows team is to ensure secure, highly available and robust computing platforms to power the University’s mission critical Enterprise Windows Systems. The team installs, configures, and supports Microsoft Windows Servers running on rackmount, blade, virtual and cloud platforms. The team also manages the ITCS Blade and Virtual Infrastructures as well as Cisco Fabric Interconnects
Job Duties
• Administration and support for Microsoft Windows Servers running on rack-mount, blade, virtual and cloud platforms.
• Manage/support the team’s Blade Infrastructure and Virtual Infrastructures.
• Monitoring and maintaining overall system security, upgrading hardware, software, patching, and remediating system level vulnerabilities.
• Troubleshooting performance issues, system failures, and security events.
• Provisioning and configuring new systems.
• Performing system level security hardening and performance tuning.
• Researching, architecting, designing, developing, testing and deploying new solutions to solve operational issues or meet business needs.
• Develop and test disaster recovery plans
• Manage short and long-term projects of varying degrees of size and complexity.
• Collaborate and consult with internal and external resources offering technical expertise and recommendations.
• Assist with configuring, securing, and maintaining Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnects
• On-call in a 24×7×365 weekly rotation with other team members which requires on site presence during business hours
The standard work schedule for this position will need to be adjusted to meet the position requirements, which include and are not limited to evening and weekend hours to perform scheduled and unscheduled workload requirements to maintain University operations.
This position may be eligible for Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA) under the ECU FWA Policy.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
• Comprehensive knowledge managing Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
• Extensive knowledge of rackmount hardware and blade/chassis hardware support
• In-depth knowledge of VMWare vSphere Virtual Infrastructures
• Researching, architecting, building, testing, and deploying Windows Platform solutions
• Developing and testing disaster recovery plans
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, organizational, planning, and strong problem-solving skills
