Job Description

Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.
Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses.
Virginia Western is accepting applications for a full-time Enrollment Navigator. An Enrollment Navigator is a vital role, serving as a resource and guide to prospective students and applicants. The Navigator provides high-quality service allowing prospective students to successfully complete the college onboarding process. Navigators embrace a holistic model of care using the case management approach to new student onboarding. Navigators serve as the primary point of contact for a new student – decreasing fragmentation of services and providing quality care across a continuum of enrollment requirements. The Navigator keeps prospective students engaged from the first point of contact through registration. The Navigator will provide guidance, and direction for prospective and new students and support them from the moment of first inquiry, decreasing the length of time spent from being interested in college to registered for college. This is accomplished by: monitoring prospective student and applicant progress throughout the enrollment process, responding to all questions/inquiries, providing information about Virginia Western Community College career and educational pathways and the enrollment process. The Navigator collaborates with college colleagues to remediate barriers to prospective student enrollment. Enrollment Navigators are not expected to be content matter experts; however, they will have expertise in connecting with experts to allow for seamless onboarding.
This role encompasses the assistance with supervision of Admissions and Advising Federal Work Study Ambassadors, as well as the management of day-to-day operations within the Enrollment Center Lab. Navigators are required to have ongoing professional development throughout the year to stay updated on domicile regulations, English Language Learner processes and other best practices.
