English Writer and Marketing Associate / 大学传播部英文撰稿及市场高级助理

The English Marketing Associate will assist the University Communications (UC) office with all English language marketing tasks from writing and adapting news articles, press releases and website content, to conducting and transcribing interviews, to creating eye-catching social media posts, to editing and polishing English articles written by non-native speakers. The English Marketing Associate will also actively seek out student/faculty life stories that might serve as strong news or marketing stories. They will also help colleagues with their own stories and pitch in as needed with various marketing events on and off campus.

 

The main responsibilities include:

 

  • Collaborate with the University Communications team to create a unified NYU Shanghai branding image for a variety of stakeholders including students, prospective students, parents, alumni, staff, and faculty as well as a wider audience.
  • Pitch, report and write an average of two to three articles per week for NYU Shanghai’s website / Weekly Gazette newsletter, including campus news, event recaps, profiles of faculty/students and courses, faculty research, student research and initiatives, and community engagement.
  • Actively attend NYU Shanghai events and pitch stories about what’s happening on campus (may require staying after hours/weekend work).
  • Interview NYU Shanghai community members and write articles in an accessible format for a large international audience. 
  • Support UC team members as needed (social media, international press and media, etc).
  • Review and edit copy for the NYU Shanghai website as needed. Transcribe and procure images for UC stories as needed.

 



Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree

 

Required Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a relevant field

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Native-level English writing, reading, and speaking ability
  • Chinese proficiency strongly preferred
  • Strong writing and editing skills – especially in news and feature writing
  • Ability to meet and work efficiently under deadline
  • Ability to communicate and work collegially across cultures
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong teamwork skills, outgoing personality, and enthusiasm for participating in NYU Shanghai community
