What You Will Do

We want you to be a part of the Procurement Engineering team under the Operational Readiness Implementation (ORI-3) Group! We are seeking an energetic and customer-focused Engineering Technologist 2.The selected candidate will compliantly perform tasks related to office engineering and materials management in support of multiple concurrent maintenance, and equipment installation/construction projects.

As the Engineering Technologist, for Procurement Engineering you will support activities for Equipment Installation, Self-performed Line Item, and Maintenance Modification Projects at TA-55. The Procurement Engineer (PrET) will assist in the design/constructability review process, as well as researching codes and standards, and review installation designs and specifications. The PrET is responsible for the interpretation of the designs and quality requirements for development of procurement packages. Based on specified design requirements, the PrET prepares comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOMs) and procurement packages for all project materials, including item descriptions, technical requirements for quality, acceptance testing, and receipt inspection. The PrET possesses technical knowledge in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and construction specifications. The PrET validates that materials specified conform in all aspects to the approved design, and comply with institutional procurement policies and procedures. The PrET is familiar with NQA-1 quality requirements, investigates potential suppliers and recommends those most desirable based on the management level and technical and performance requirements of the item. The PrET prioritizes work based on programmatic demands. Provides project oversight, initiates process improvement efforts and collaborates with engineering to develop a Consolidated Bill of Material (CBOM) to be used for ordering, material tracking, and project material inventory. The PrET will consult with engineering, craft supervisors, craft, and project management personnel to resolve procurement related issues throughout the lifecycle of the project or maintenance activity.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Engineering procurement

Demonstrated ability to comply with industry practices, policies, and procedures specifically relating to engineering, procurement, and quality. Demonstrated experience in procurement engineering for technical or operational work, including applying technical specifications, developing and managing CBOMS, tracking material and developing compliant procurement packages for safety class and safety significant items.

In-depth knowledge in reviewing design specifications, drawings, and CBOMs for engineering related issues that will affect material.

Computing/Business Systems

Demonstrated above average computer skills and proficient experience with Inventory Control, Material Tracking, and proficiency using various software applications including but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.

Customer Service

Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide clear, concise support and guidance to others in sometimes-stressful situations is expected. Experience interacting professionally with all level of personnel, including external interfaces and executive management is also expected.

Communication

Demonstrated experience and excellence in interacting and communicating both written and orally with customers in a customer service-related setting. Ability to communicate findings and make recommendations to resolve issues.Demonstrated ability to proactively assisting others in achieving the organization’s general objectives.

Organizational Skills

Demonstrate high attention to detail including excellent organizational skills, analytical thinking, observational skills and problem-solving skills to result in high accuracy. Proven ability to multi-task and adjust to the workings of a dynamic and cohesive fast-paced team environment.

Education/Experience

Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related degree required and 5 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience purchasing material in a nuclear facility and/or highly-regulated environment.

  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical specifications and engineering drawings.

  • Experience purchasing a consistent high volume of material for multiple customers.

  • Familiarity with NQA-1 and NAP24 quality drivers.

  • Active DOE Q clearance.

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
