The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking an Engineering Technician to join the Department of Pharmacology. Under direct supervision, the selected candidate performs tasks in maintaining and constructing custom laboratory equipment using standard tools and techniques in mechanics and electronics and performs other laboratory activities and maintenance. The Technician will work on a funded project concerning Motor Skill Learning for the School of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology.

**This is a FULL-TIME, CONTRACTUAL position**

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Assists with and maintains custom equipment, using standard mechanical workshop tools and procedures.
  • Assists in operating a laser cutter, a 3D printer and a variety of hand and power tools or mechanical equipment to build and maintain custom laboratory equipment.
  • Assists in using and adapting custom software to run custom laboratory equipment.
  • Assists in conducting research on current scientific literature using computerized applications.
  • Collects, records, and enters research data.
  • Performs general housekeeping of laboratory and laboratory equipment.
  • Maintains equipment inventory.
 

Qualifications

  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School diploma or GED.

Experience: Two years in non-professional technical work in engineering or an allied area.

Based on the duties of this position, selected candidates are not eligible to participate in the Bargaining Unit (Union).

 

Salary Range: $46,250 - $48,000 per year (Commensurate with education and experience)
