The Tickle College of Engineering (TCE) at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for the Office of Engineering Professional Practice (EPP) Coordinator. EPP is dedicated to helping engineering students find educationally relevant paid cooperative (co-op) or internship positions with hundreds of participating employers.

The College: The Tickle College of Engineering provides 11 BS degrees, 16 MS degrees, and 13 Ph.D. degrees through 7 departments. The College has a common freshman program administered by the TCE through the Engineering Fundamentals Directorate overseeing the general Engineering Fundamentals and Engineering Honors Programs. The Position: The Office of Engineering Professional Practice Coordinator reports to the Director of EPP and provides daily counseling for current and prospective co-op/internship students, guidance in placing engineering students in educational assignments with industry and government agencies, meets with employers and potential clients, visits students on worksites, and tracks data to meet goals for growth. This position also supports the program marketing and communications services for the program’s events, student workshops, promotional materials, tracking return on investment of campaigns, monitoring social media for queries, and collaborating with other departments to market experiential learning effectively.

Responsibilities

· Interviewing and advising students to determine interests, critique resumes, build interviewing skills, and gain oral and written communication skills

through various workshops, ambassador meetings, and company-sponsored events.

· Participates in outreach to students and family members both current and prospective.

· Attends activities, associations, or events related to relationship development of the role.

· Coordinates information to optimize student co-op/internship placement.

· Facilitates workshops regarding communication skills, interview tips, and resume writing.

· Provides program support services for all program events, student workshops, and program information sessions as well as promotional materials.

· Organizes and leads special efforts to promote the full use of career and employment services by students.

· Designs promotional materials and maintain web-based photo galleries for program promotion both through online and offline channels. This will include assisting with taking videos and photos as needed.

· Responds to social media queries on behalf of EPP and tracks the ROI on marketing campaigns.

· Maintains TEN website directory and affiliations data in collaboration with communications, as well as develops, and maintains a database of targeted trade and facility publications of our clients.

· Provides support to front office staff members as a back-up, and direct support on an as-needed basis to the Assistant Director and Director of the program.

 



Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a field related to the duties.

Experience: Three years of business, marketing, communications, and/or public relations experience.

Preferred Experience: Five years of experience in a non-profit or higher education setting involving education or related student support programs with an emphasis on marketing and program promotion.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

● Excellent writing and communication skills.

● Ability to become proficient with new software such as GradLeaders, Handshake, and Career Fair+ for co-op and internship recording keeping and event scheduling.

● Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including SharePoint

● Working knowledge of Acrobat and Creative Suite products

● Ability to communicate with a diverse population in academia, industry, and government.

● Ability to facilitate workshops and presentations.

● Ability to learn new software such as CSO Interfase/Gradleaders, Handshake, and Career Fair+

Preferred Qualifications:

● Knowledge of job search elements such as resumes, interviewing, networking, and overall job search etiquette.

● Knowledge of Human Resources principles, methods of organization student advising, and personnel management.

● Experience with student programs or advising students
