Position Overview


The Lima campus of The Ohio State University seeks a Lecturer and Program Coordinator in the Department of Engineering, for a one-year appointment beginning Autumn 2024. This is an annual appointment that may be renewed contingent upon the Dean’s approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding. This position is located in Lima, OH.


Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.


Performance Objectives
• Teach undergraduate courses in the new Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (BSET) program on the Lima campus and hold regular office hours for students
• Serve as faculty academic program coordinator for the new BSET program: develop and improve courses, help coordinate academic oversight with the College of Engineering and other regional campuses, and help prepare for ABET / ETAC accreditation
• Assist enrollment services team in recruiting new students for the BSET program
• Help expand and maintain experiential learning opportunities in the BSET program, including co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities with regional manufacturers
• Provide service to the university, including developing mutually beneficial relationships with industry partners


Education and Experience Requirements
• An earned master’s or doctoral degree in an engineering or engineering technology field relevant to manufacturing
• Significant teaching and/or industrial experience involving robotics, electronics, manufacturing processes, or manufacturing management
• A strong commitment to and evidence of excellence in teaching; experience with under-represented groups and first-generation students preferred
• Program development experience preferred

The College
The Ohio State University at Lima offered its first classes in 1960. The Lima campus sits on 565 acres which is comprised of 270 acres of woods, 35 acres of natural prairie, 200 tillable acres, and 60 acres that contain the academic campus (buildings, greens, and parking lots). There are 10 buildings on campus, four of which are shared with our collocated institution, Rhodes State College (RSC). Ohio State Lima also has two off-campus teaching sites: Ohio State Lima at Mercy Health St. Rita’s for its anatomy/cadaver lab (1,400 square feet) and Ohio State Lima at the Engineering Education and Manufacturing Center at the Ford Engine Plant which houses five labs, 12 classrooms and breakout rooms and a 300-seat auditorium.


Ohio State Lima currently enrolls 818 students who are taught and supported by 26 tenure track faculty, 52 associated faculty, 5 visiting faculty, and 56 staff members. Outside of the classroom, students have vast opportunities for experience through internships, undergraduate research, leadership projects, and community engagement.


The Department
The Ohio State Lima campus offers a world-class engineering technology education in a personalized and cost-effective learning environment. Students receive hands-on lab experiences in our state-of the-art facilities and have the opportunity to participate in undergraduate research.


In addition, Ohio State Lima partners with regional manufacturers to offer immersive and applicable internship and senior capstone experiences. Undergraduate students work as peer tutors and learning assistants. Our campus also offers numerous academic enrichment opportunities to our students, including Honors, Undergraduate Research, Service Learning, and Study Abroad.
