Job Description

Represents the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents (as Owner) and the University's administration by (1) serving as project manager for construction projects, consulting with individuals or departments to translate facility requirements into an architectural or engineering design program, responsible for project budgets and design, and administering consultant design agreements; (2) Acts as the department authority on matters within their engineering discipline, provides engineering support to all projects managed by A&E Services and reviews drawings, specifications and submittals within their area of expertise and/or (3) providing daily construction administration of construction contracts; advising contractors, project architects or engineers and University officials regarding project quality and schedule, coordinating work with other University departments, and monitoring contractor work for conformance with construction contract requirements.

 

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelors degree, AND: 

  • 36 months experience in the field of architectural/engineering design or commercial or institutional construction.  

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelors degree for a total of 84 months of related experience.

Skills:

  •  Ability to read, interpret, and evaluate construction drawings of specifications
  •  Ability to coordinate and organize goals and efforts of multiple constituencies
  •  Design software such as Auto CAD       
  •  Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Plangrid      
  •  Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

Certifications:

  •  Valid Drivers License 
  •  Licensed Engineer in the State of Oklahoma or hold professional engineer license in another state and be eligible to obtain license to practice in the State of Oklahoma.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy objects.  Ability to climb, including climbing ladders.  Ability to crouch, crawl, bend, or stoop.  Ability to engage in repetitive motions. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Environment: Office environment and at project sites. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.

Departmental Preferences:

  • 5-10 years relevant post-graduation experience in institutional commercial construction admin
  • Licensed Engineer
  • 5-10 years relevant post-graduation experience in architectural/engineering project management 
  • Prefer experience as a team member on major capital projects with budgets of $25M or higher
