Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Facilities Management Department is responsible for the design, construction, maintenance and operation of the University’s physical facilities to enhance and support the mission and academic goals of the University. The department is one of several units that fall under the responsibility of the Vice Chancellor of the Division of Business and Finance. The FM Department is managed by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management and the Directors of Administration & Budget, Operations & Maintenance and Planning & Construction.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
 The Sustainability  and Energy Management Coordinator is responsible for the efficient and effective management of energy and water utility usage on campus. This includes the routine and periodic review of monthly and annual usage, as well as identifying energy savings opportunities, equipment and projects. The SEM is the key contact for FSU with utility contacts as well as with relevant state agencies for reporting purposes (NCDEQ and UNC System Office). The SEM also manages the sustainability program on the FSU campus to ensure that sustainable practice is the norm in campus operations, that sustainability is integrated into the curriculum, and that there is a vibrant and engaged student-led sustainability initiative on campus.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering  or environmental science discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience Some positions may require licensure by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Preferred Qualifications:
2-5 years of post-graduate experience in energy management, facilities management or sustainability. Energy management training and certification is preferred.
