Job Summary

Under the direction of and reporting to the Chief of Staff to the Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean of the School of Medicine (the “Dean”), this position focuses on planning and executing stakeholder relations and engagement strategies; monitoring and continuously seeking opportunities to enhance supporter and stakeholder opinion; writing and editing content and materials, including leaflets, brochures, speeches, newsletters, websites and social media content to maximize stakeholder and volunteer leader engagement.

We’re looking for a seasoned content and engagement professional to create narratives that guide and showcase our story and the Dean’s vision and direction for the school. This person will contribute to existing marketing and communications efforts while helping to develop new initiatives aligned with School of Medicine objectives, including a planned fundraising campaign and ongoing supporter and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will have experience in a wide range of content development, strategic relations and communications/engagement functions, as well as cultivating positive relationships with volunteer leadership boards and committees.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinate supporter and stakeholder engagement and strategic relations activities for the dean’s office, including direct mail and email, in-person, telephone and digital media outreach, and one-on-one and group meetings for the Dean

  • Prepare, track and manage all correspondence with supporters and stakeholders, including mail merge and mass and direct mailings

  • Plan and manage traditional and social media campaign tactics, community stakeholder, and donor-related engagement events and outreach

  • Build relationships with thought leaders across the University, School of Medicine, and community supporters and stakeholders to grow and promote the School of Medicine’s image and campaign goals

  • Collaborate with other departments to develop and execute a strategic relations  and engagement strategy for the campaign , including strategy development, content creation, campaign and fundraising goals, budget and tactics

  • Direct social media team to engage campaign and supporter/stakeholder audiences

  • Nurture existing community stakeholder and supporter relationships and cultivate new opportunities and relationships

  • Create content for and manage administration of supporter and volunteer executive leadership meetings, including preparing meeting announcements and reminders, pre-reads and meeting materials, scripts, presentations, meeting notes, and follow-up materials

  • Continuously monitor, analyze, and communicate engagement results

  • Monitor and respond to trends and opportunities affecting the campaign and supporter and stakeholder engagement; continue to monitor and track progress and strategy effectiveness; and make appropriate recommendations and adjustments to strategy execution

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and in close cooperation with senior leadership

  • Ability to collect and analyze information and draw conclusions with strong attention to detail

  • Experience handling highly confidential and sensitive materials and situations

  • Exceptional writing and editing, communication, and content creation,  and graphic design skills a plus

  • Solid experience with social media platforms and digital engagement strategies

  • Event planning experience

  • Technical skill in managing electronic database and supporter/stakeholder lists and mail merges

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Education, PR, Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related discipline, with 5-7 years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

Masters degree in Business Administration, Education, PR, Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related discipline
