Position Overview

The Engagement and Alumni Relations, Senior Associate serves as a key member of the Alumni Affairs team for the College of Medicine (COM). The Senior Associate develops and manages programs that engage alumni, volunteers and donors in the life of the college and build connections that advance their relationship with Ohio State and the College of Medicine. This Senior Associate leads and coordinates Reunion Class volunteers and other key alumni and donor volunteer programs such as mentorship, strategizes, plans and executes alumni engagement events as appropriate and in line with college priorities and aligned with development strategies, develops, establishes and maintains relationships with internal and external constituents, collaborates with OSU Alumni Association and university partners on volunteer best-practices, coordinates communication efforts to help build the reputation of the College by leading production of e-newsletter, developing marketing strategies for key alumni initiatives, and collaborating with other COM advancement staff on event marketing.

This position requires a flexible schedule and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and demands to include occasional work week travel, the ability to work in outdoor weather conditions, occasional evening and weekend work, and occasional additional hours during high volume event periods. Annually, the Senior Associate is measured on metrics such as but not limited to: number of first-time attendees; increase in identified leadership annual giving and major gift prospects.

Duties and Responsibilities

60% - Alumni and Constituent Engagement

Develops unique initiatives and programs that engage alumni, friends, and donors in the life of the college and build connections that advance their relationship with Ohio State and the College of Medicine; strategizes, plans, and executes alumni and friends engagement events as appropriate and in line with college engagement priorities and aligned with development strategies; ensures programmatic expenses are within budget, works closely with key staff members, vendors and volunteers to achieve the goals of each initiative and the College engagement program overall.

35% - Communication

Develops marketing strategies for key alumni and friends initiatives; coordinates communication efforts to help build the reputation of the College by leading production of e-newsletter, and collaborating with other COM/School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (HRS) advancement staff on marketing; administers alumni website, social media, and broadcast email tools.

5% - Administration & Miscellaneous

Maintain office records including updating TAS, monitoring medalum email account, routine alumni correspondence such as birthday cards and holiday cards, sympathy, and other special correspondence. Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.

  • Two (2) years of relevant experience

  • Two (2) years of customer relations, administration, and/or institutional advancement experience

  • Knowledge of and experience in program planning and event management

  • Familiarity and comfort with using various digital communication and engagement platforms

  • Direct alumni relations and/or fundraising experience

  • Demonstrated skill in working with diverse communities and cultural groups

  • Microsoft Office experience

  • Be an effective public speaker and possess effective verbal and written communications skills

The pay range for this job profile is $49,800 – $66,400 (min - mid). The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
