General Notes

The Energy Institute is seeking a highly motivated person to join our team to support our Events Communications and Coordination. This individual will be responsible for engaging with UT students, faculty and staff and developing and maintaining strong relationships with UT’s external stakeholders, including industry, alumni and philanthropic partners. The individual will be responsible for helping the Energy Institute team organize, fundraise for, communicate and coordinate major events, including EnergizeUT and Hydrogen Day in the Fall semester and Energy Week in the Spring, as well as various student-focused meetings that occur throughout the year.   


Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Energy Institute team, the candidate will report to the Director and work closely and collaboratively with Energy Institute staff to communicate, organize, coordinate and help run events organized by the Energy Institute.
  • A critical part of this role will be to build and maintain relationships with external partners, including companies, philanthropic organizations, investors, UT alumni, workforce and community-based organizations as related to event coordination, communications and execution.
  • Develop communications, marketing and outreach materials to promote Energy Institute initiatives, events and fundraising. This includes effective social media postings, developing effective website content and generating website communications.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Energy Institute by performing other related duties as assigned. May represent the unit through participation in special projects or other coordinated efforts.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to energy, business administration, marketing, human resources, public affairs, communications, policy or organizational development.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong leadership skills, including experience leading teams and organizing and running events and activities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with various groups of people.
  • Strong experience with effective use of social media tools and platforms, and the development of website content.
  • Marketing and fundraising experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in use of normal business software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point or similar) as well as creating, managing, and coordinating online meeting and webinar platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).


Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of, and experience in, a university research environment.


Salary Range

$70,000 + depending on qualifications


Working Conditions

Day-to-day duties will be carried out in a typical office environment, while event-related activities will take place in various venues, both on The University of Texas at Austin campus and elsewhere. Travel and work outside regular business hours may be required.

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
