The Endoscopy Assistant supports clinical and administrative staff throughout the patient care process as needed. Cleans gurneys, monitors, ancillary and public areas in compliance with infection control and safety policies and procedures. Escorts patients to cars at discharge. Supports nursing personnel and materials manager as needed by acquiring and re-stocking inventory as requested. May be crossed trained to assist with front desk responsibilities including answering phones, scheduling, general patient reception and medical records management.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Cleans pre-op and recovery bays in compliance with policies.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of nursing station, public restrooms and reception area throughout the day.
  • Ensures that entrance, lobby and corridors are free of trash and spillage.
  • Expresses maintenance and housekeeping concerns to the Charge Nurse.
  • Transports patients to their cars in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs special projects as requested by the Charge Nurse.
  • Provides accurate information to patients and staff.
  • Actively participates in all department in-services and meetings.
  • Cleans staff and patient nourishment food refrigerators weekly and medication refrigerator monthly at a minimum.
  • Assists with obtaining inventory as requested.
  • Assists with stocking of linen and supplies.
  • Works collaboratively with other team members, demonstrating a positive and willing attitude.
  • Performs other duties as requested, which may include such activities as: participating in medical record audits, answering phones, scanning/filing medical records, assisting with other front office duties or scheduling, collecting data for infection control and QAPI activities at the center and participating in committees as encouraged.

 
Education:

High school diploma/GED preferred.


Experience:

One (1) year of customer service or housekeeping experience preferred.
