Position Summary
The LCCC at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks to hire a full-time project manager to support the advancement of the mission of the Endometrial Cancer Center of Excellence. Reporting to the Director, the successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative, operational and project management work of the Center. Duties may include coordination of project stakeholders, participation in project design and implementation, leading discussions with administrative and clinical project partners, monitoring of project progress and goals, donor stewardship work and assisting with budgetary management. Management of seminar series, stakeholder meetings, and the Director’s complex calendar. Time will be dedicated to supporting protocol development and monitoring by working closely with regulatory staff and study teams to develop study protocol, prepare IRB applications and modifications, monitor study timelines and research activities, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, standard operation procedures (SOPs), the study protocols, and overall research objectives. Position will also entail development of research databases for a variety of project types (i.e., retrospective and prospective translational and clinical studies), primary data collection (including via medical chart review), and database maintenance (experience with REDCap is preferred). Strong acumen when developing manuscripts, conference presentations, website content and research grant applications is needed. May train and supervise research assistants, students, and/or temporary employees as assigned. Opportunity may exist to assist with recruitment, enrollment, and retention of study participants; identifying, evaluating, and modifying data collection methodologies; preparing study-related enrollment and retention reports. Support study-related communications across study team, partners, and relevant stakeholders.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience with independently managing research including establishing operating design, quality assurance, database development and maintenance (including data extraction) and IRB submissions/renewals/modifications. Must possess excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, inherent self-motivation, demonstrated capacity for working independently and engaging in innovative problem-solving, and ability to work productively in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. Requires dedication to research on cancer diagnosis, treatment and management, with a focus on equity in care and also includes biological correlates such as genomics/microbiome. Also required is the ability to orient other personnel in data collection and quality control techniques, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, physicians, researchers, managers, representatives of other agencies/facilities, and the public.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Preference will be given to the candidate with the following relevant experience: managing multi-site or multidisciplinary research projects; interviewing research participants with a medical diagnosis or chronic illness; conducting literature reviews; grant writing; analyzing quantitative data using Stata or SAS; preparing reports to funding agencies, including the National Institutes of Health; preparing and managing research budgets; preparing and submitting manuscripts for publication; preparing reports and applications to institutional review boards (IRBs), and in-depth knowledge of and facility with Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Calendar, and Endnote.
