Primary Purpose: This individual provides leadership and direction of the operation, organization, administration and evaluation of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program for the University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC). He/she works collaboratively with Patient Services, Emergency Medicine and other specialty physicians, other UCMC specialty program managers / outreach coordinators / educators, and administrators to coordinate a comprehensive EMS Program including strategic and operational efforts. He/she is accountable for development and implementation of methods to maintain / improve positive relationships with prehospital care EMS providers and agency leaders and to facilitate education, outreach and other activities for both EMS and Center for Emergency Care (CEC) staff to support continuous quality improvement of patient care.




Qualifications

 

Knowledge and Skills
 
Education:. Bachelor's degree in related field of study, minimum required.

 

License and Certification: Current OH EMT-Paramedic certification or current OH Registered Nurses licensure and maintenance throughout employment. Ohio certified EMS Instructor (preferred at hire; required within 18 months of hire). ACLS Instructor (preferred).

                                                                          
Years of Experience:  Three to five years equivalent experience, minimum required. Six to ten, preferred.
                                                                          
Required Skills and Knowledge:  

  • Experience in prehospital and / or Emergency Department care.
  • Experience in teaching, public speaking and effective written and verbal skills.
  • Exceptional knowledge of EMS clinical standards and operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and independent. Proven ability to work independently and foster team environment.
  • Computer proficiency for use of email, word processing (Microsoft Word), data analysis / presentation (Microsoft Excel), and presentation programs (Microsoft PowerPoint) upon hire preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated background in data compilation and analysis preferred.
  • Knowledge of current EMS prehospital care operational technology and software applications preferred.
