| Special Assignments | May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. |
| KSA's/Required Qualifications | • Current unrestricted EMT license in Virginia. • Certification as an Educational Consultant by the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services. • A minimum of an associate degree in Emergency Medical Services from an accredited college or university • At least two years’ experience as an EMT with recent field experience. • Knowledge of current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Educations Standards, and evidence-informed practice. • Commitment to community college mission and to emergency medical education. • Excellent oral and written communication and effective communication in teaching/learning situations. • Commitment to and ability to implement teaching strategies that foster student retention and student success. • Ability to serve effectively as a team member and maintain effective and courteous working relationships. • Fairness and flexibility in understanding and working with various students. • Knowledge of emerging trends in emergency medical scenarios. • Willingness to obtain and maintain screening and immunizations required for field participation. Finalists will be required to present a sample teaching lesson. |
| Additional Considerations | Additional factors that may be considered include: • Bachelor’s degree in emergency medical services or related field from an accredited college or university. • Experience in community college or other higher education nursing education. • Knowledge of assessment of student learning and program effectiveness. • Experience working in an CAAHEP/CoAEMSP accredited emergency medical services program. • Evidence of continuous professional development in emergency medical services. |
