Employer Engagement Coordinator, USC Viterbi School of Engineering

The USC Viterbi School of Engineering (https://viterbischool.usc.edu/) seeks a professional to serve as the Employer Engagement Coordinator within Viterbi Career Connections (VCC). This position is responsible for managing the activities for current and new industry partners who will recruit undergraduate and graduate students from the Viterbi School of Engineering. The ideal candidate should have experience working with corporate partners and employer relations; excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to interact professionally; manage multiple priorities; and data management skills.


VCC is a full-service career center that hosts various annual flagship career events, including two Engineering Career & Internship Expos each year, several networking activities, and career readiness workshops. The team also manages daily on-campus recruiting activities, such as company information sessions and on-campus interviews; provides career advisement to students and administers internship course opportunities.


The Viterbi Career Connections area is part of Viterbi Admission and Student Engagement (VASE). The Employer Engagement Coordinator will report directly to the Assistant Director of Employer Relations for Viterbi Career
Connections.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
● Serve as a contact for employers recruiting engineering and computer science students from the University of Southern California Viterbi School.
● Manage and evaluate several aspects of On-Campus and virtual recruiting activities for employers. This includes providing guidance to employers on utilizing the Viterbi recruitment platform, reserving facilities and serving as a
point of contact for employer questions. Oversee the invoicing and billing of employers for recruitment events,
activities and sponsorships.
● Work closely with the Assistant Director of Employer Relations to develop and update databases to track corporate involvement and hiring.
● Participate in the planning and execution of VCC events, taking a key role in these when needed or requested. Current VCC events include the Career & Internship Expo, Career Readiness, Networking, and Interview preparedness events.
● Create, audit, and regularly update employer-facing communications, including: Webpages, direct emails, announcements, recruiting newsletter, social media marketing, VCC event collateral etc.
● Advise engineering students individually and in groups to provide career advice and counseling. Remain knowledgeable about career options and the current employment climate.
● Provide support to all engineering students interested in the internship courses for credit. This may include, but is not limited to, providing appropriate advisement and guidance to international students on course options and
Curricular Practical Training (CPT), review of student application materials for eligibility, and grading submitted assignments.
● Create, update, and present workshops to engineering students, collaborating as needed with the VCC staff. This may also include special request presentations.
● Conduct program and event assessments, quantitative and qualitative, for continuous improvement
● Provide regular summary reports, ad hoc reports, and the annual End of Year report for the Assistant Director of Employer Relations, and Senior Director.
● Manage student appointments, events, reporting, and other requests as needed through the Viterbi recruitment platform.
● Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, project management tools and software tools.
● Collaborate regularly with other career staff on employer-related initiatives and outreach.
● Collaborate with internal and external USC VASE partners.
● Engage with career services professional associations like the National Association of Colleges and Employers and the Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges and Employers.
● Keep current on job trends in various engineering industries.
● Occasional evening hours required.
● Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information:


This is currently a fixed hybrid position. The Coordinator will be expected to work onsite for a minimum (3) days per week. This position is not eligible for fully remote work.


The hourly rate for this position is $29.46 - $33.15.

Preferred Qualifications:
● Previous experience in counseling or university recruiting, career counseling/advising, or Human Resources area.
● Knowledge or experience with USC programs and services.
● Proven skill in developing and maintaining accurate, organized records, files, and filing systems.
● Demonstrated practical problem-solving and organizational skills and ability to identify, research, and analyze complex situations, recommend solutions, and determine action plans.
● Ability to work with students and employers from diverse backgrounds.
● Possess a general understanding of the current employment opportunities in various engineering industries, an understanding of engineering majors and potential career pathways for students.
● Knowledge of professional ethics and standards, as noted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
● Experience with any of the listed software tools: Handshake, Qualtrics, WordPress, Symplicity, PeopleGrove, PowToons, 12Twenty, ASANA, Tableau, VMock, SkillSurvey, and others.

Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree
● Minimum of one year of experience in higher education, a career services organization, or Human Resources
● Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends.
● Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing priorities and fluctuating workloads.
● Demonstrated ability to successfully follow multiple tasks through to completion.
● Experience in working with MS Office and database programs.
● Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to independently compose letters, emails, and memos; ability to proofread and edit VCC communication.
● Excellent verbal communication, including over the phone and public speaking.
● Understanding of career development and support needs for diverse student populations, including needs for underrepresented populations, mature learners, and people with health conditions or impairments.
● Multicultural competencies and the ability to work with diverse populations.
● Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating sensitivity, tact, patience, and diplomacy at all levels.
● Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment that requires some job sharing.
● Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment with understanding and sensitivity to identify those decisions and activities that require higher-level consultation or group collaboration.
● Experience in working with MS Office and database programs.
