The Department of Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality is the largest student employer at Illinois State University. Additional Information

The Samuel and Beth Braden Internship is a living memorial for the Braden’s established by the children of Samuel and Beth Braden. Dr. Braden was the tenth President of Illinois State University and the driving force behind the construction of the Auditorium which now carries the Braden name.

The purpose of the Braden Internship is to enhance and facilitate the academic and professional preparation of students with an interest in entertainment, event, and/or public facility management.


Pay Rate

$14.25/hour


Required Qualifications

- Hands-on experience in assisting in the management of events and the facility
- Maintain good academic and disciplinary standing.


Preferred Qualifications

- Student at junior, senior, or graduate level preferred although all levels will be considered
- Ability to adapt to the needs and hours of the department - schedules will be based around events and will include evening and weekend hours
- Assist in different aspects of the Braden Auditorium duties (ushering, bag checks, crowd control, ticketing)
- Work on various projects within the department utilizing time and resources efficiently
- Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of concentration
- Positive attitude with a willingness to accommodate client, guest, and staff requests and exceed expectations
- Ability to work in a team environment
- The ability to lift and carry at least 75 lbs
- The ability to remain on foot for long periods of time (over one hour)


Work Hours

Varies, working approximately 12 hours per week for 15 weeks each semester.

This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and if applicable, an employment history review, based on University Policy 3.1.30 and any offer of employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation and/or an employment history review.
