The Department of Elementary & Secondary Education is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to begin in the spring 2024 semester.  As a newly established unit, Elementary & Secondary Education Department will offer course work related to Illinois Subsequent Endorsements for Professional Educators in areas, such as Bilingual Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), Learning Behavior (LBS1), Technology, and iOS and MacOS Computer Science.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide effective class instruction, using a variety of new techniques and technologies, as appropriate for the assignment and instructional mode, to meet the needs of diverse learners and empower them to succeed
  • Prepare syllabus in accordance with department standards and CCC requirements
  • Develop appropriate course materials, such as assignments, activities, and assessments to meet course objectives and student learning outcomes
  • Evaluate student work, assign grades, and maintain grading records
  • Participate in the online teacher training program
  • The position must maintain current instructional certifications appropriate to the field or discipline
  • Participate in curriculum development and review
  • Serve on college, district, and professional committees (as appropriate)
  • Design courses to meet learning outcomes, and promote students' active participation in their own learning
  • Use the online learning platform to post course syllabi and inform students about class assignments and evaluation techniques/outcomes You are required to post your syllabi on Brightspace and to enter your grades online

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required    

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field
  • Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Minimum seven years of teaching experience in Grades 3 – 8 and/or high school
  • Subsequent Endorsement in one of the following areas: Bilingual Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), Learning Behavior (LBS1), Technology, or iOS and MacOS Computer Science
    Preferred
  • Doctorate degree in Education or a related field
  • Administrative experience in Grades 3 – 8 or high school
  • Teacher-evaluation experience in Grades 3 – 8 or high school
  • College teaching experience
  • Experience in online instruction using a learning management system
