Job Description

The Electronics Technician II, under general supervision, installs, operates, and repairs a variety of electronic and electrical equipment used for research, instructional, or plant operation activities and supervises other technician personnel in such duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots and repairs electronic circuits using necessary test equipment.
  • Repairs mechanical and electrical equipment as required.
  • Work with AC and DC electrical systems
  • Performs preventive maintenance as necessary and instructs students on the proper use of equipment.
  • Helps design and fabricate electronic equipment.
  • Builds and installs special electronic circuits and apparatuses from drawings made by research or students.
  • Documents repair and design of electronics systems using AutoCAD and/or pCAD as required.
  • Establishes and oversees standard operating procedures. Performs research tasks.
  • Originates testing procedures when necessary.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Four years of related experience as an electronics technician

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of test equipment, spectrum analyzers, digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, radio test equipment, meters, signal generators, amp meters, voltmeters, and other digital instruments.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. ​

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to distinguish different colored wiring.
  • Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders.
  • Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
