Job Description
The Electronics Technician II, under general supervision, installs, operates, and repairs a variety of electronic and electrical equipment used for research, instructional, or plant operation activities and supervises other technician personnel in such duties.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoots and repairs electronic circuits using necessary test equipment.
- Repairs mechanical and electrical equipment as required.
- Work with AC and DC electrical systems
- Performs preventive maintenance as necessary and instructs students on the proper use of equipment.
- Helps design and fabricate electronic equipment.
- Builds and installs special electronic circuits and apparatuses from drawings made by research or students.
- Documents repair and design of electronics systems using AutoCAD and/or pCAD as required.
- Establishes and oversees standard operating procedures. Performs research tasks.
- Originates testing procedures when necessary.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience:
- Four years of related experience as an electronics technician
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of test equipment, spectrum analyzers, digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, radio test equipment, meters, signal generators, amp meters, voltmeters, and other digital instruments.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to distinguish different colored wiring.
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders.
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
