POSITION: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings for an Electronics Engineer in
Berkeley, CA.


Duties: Perform a variety of engineering tasks related to state-of-the-art electronic instrumentation and data
acquisition systems for particle accelerators and other scientific applications. Work with all phases of a
system's lifetime: conceptualization, design, planning, implementation, and commissioning. Develop
FPGA-based Digital Signal Processing systems (similar to software-defined radio) for real-time control
applications, including simulation and software support. Develop test stands, test, debug and validate
integrated FPGA-based instrumentation, including digital designs, high-speed serial links and RF
electronics. Develop software to integrate systems to the control system. Technical leadership of the
development and maintenance of the necessary programming and testing infrastructure. Document ongoing
and completed work and present it at conferences and workshops. Publish in relevant journals. Support
preparation of new proposals, from the development of technical concepts to the preparation of budgets and
schedules. May telecommute.


Benefits: This full salary range of this position is between $114,900 to $193,860 per year
depending upon candidates’ full skills, knowledge, and abilities, including education, certifications,
and years of experience.


Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering
or related field followed by 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in an
engineering-related occupation. Position requires:


1. Electronic instrumentation and data acquisition systems for particle accelerators;
2. RTL Design using Verilog or VHDL;
3. Digital signal processing and digital systems;
4. C, C++, and Python;
5. Designing and implementing FPGA-based systems: serial links and radio-frequency electronics;
6. Hardware testing, verification, and debugging; and
7. Software defined radio or real-time control applications.
