Position Summary:

FAU Harbor Branch, located in Ft. Pierce, is a research institute focusing on marine science and oceanography with over 200 scientists, staff and students that work and study at the site.   

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Electronics Engineer - Fort Pierce, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Working with the principal investigators to define the scope of the project.

  • Creation of detailed electronic design specifications.

  • Develop the electronic hardware prototype and software based on the design specifications.

  • Creation of hardware test processes and procedures.

  • Conducting system testing/troubleshooting in a laboratory environment.

  • Support system testing in the field environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience required.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline and 3 years of electronics engineering experience or master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and 1 year of electronics engineering experience.
Demonstrated experience in electronic system development in one or more of the following areas: embedded software, FPGA programming, electronic schematic design.
Demonstrated experience in lab testing and troubleshooting electronic systems.
Ability to support multiple on-going projects in a fast-changing environment.
Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Experience with Electro-optical system design and/or underwater electronic design.
Experience and knowledge of optical system design and testing is highly desirable.
Experience and knowledge of digital micromirror device is highly desirable.
Knowledge of mechanical design is desirable.
Previous work experience in a research laboratory in a similar role is desirable.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with scientists and other team members.

Salary:

$50,000 - $70,000 per year.
