Advertised Job Summary | Performs electrical building modifications to comply with customers’ needs and NEC code regulations including but not limited to building, lighting, power circuits, fire alarm and emergency systems by receiving project work orders and other documentation; completing actual hands on physical work; ensuring that all work performed follows the departmental and OSHA safety guidelines, policies and regulations; and ensuring that systems are in safe working order while exhibiting a professional demeanor including conduct, appearance and work practices. |

Minimum Qualifications | High school diploma and 4 years electrical experience. SC Journeyman electrical license required. Driver’s license required. |

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Knowledge and experience in the fabrication and installation of materials and equipment required by electrical distribution systems and knowledge of national and local code requirements. Ability to work within established resources, communicate in writing and orally to management, and maintain accurate records relating to time, materials and services provided. The ability to operate computer systems is essential. Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and prioritize work. Must become familiar/proficient in use of Microsoft Windows, Office and FAMIS and other programs developed to manage work orders and receive campus e-mail. |

Job Duty | Coordinates the installation of new and modified systems including but not limited to reading blueprints, schematics or drawings; consulting with customers, University Project Managers, contractors and sub-contractors to approve new construction plans based on USC standards and to provide information on existing electrical systems that may be affected during a project and advice on requirements for future construction projects; reviewing construction areas for electrical requirements; communication of expected installation or modification work with electrical personnel; trouble shooting new or newly modified systems to assure proper functioning; and occasionally estimating costs for project work based on length, scope, manpower and equipment requirements. |
