Position Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), a world-renowned scientific research organization on Long Island’s North Shore, is seeking an Electrician.  


Position Responsibilities

Maintains and installs all electrical systems in accordance with National Electric Code under general supervision of the Manager, electrical services or a Master Electrician  

  • Constructs, installs, troubleshoots, and tests electrical systems for new construction, building renovation, and building modification.
  • Routes and installs signal lines for telephones, computer networks, and other communication systems.
  • Performs all required preventative and corrective maintenance to electrical systems and components on Laboratory grounds.
  • Installs, maintains, and operates emergency backup generators.
  • Interacts with Laboratory administration and scientific staff in the performance of job duties.
  • Performs tasks and duties as directed by the Manager, Electrical Services.


Position Requirements

EDUCATION: 
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: 

  • Must have worked and completed an approved electrical apprenticeship program
  • 0-4 years’ experience working as an Electrician    

SKILLS: 
  • A working knowledge of the National Electrical Code is required.
  • Must be able to work independently if required.
  • Basic electrical installation/construction skills
  • valid driver’s license

The hourly rate for this role is $21.97-25.47.   The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity).
