Job Summary:
This position requires an understanding of the principles of protection of industrial or utility electrical systems of 12kV or higher. It will serve as backup to the Planning and Operations Engineers within the Electric Distribution Group in Energy Services and work closely to stay up-to-date on the systems and methods used for this work. This position will focus on the SCADA system, as well as overall system planning and protective relays. This will require a working knowledge of control systems, electrical power and automation devices. Position requires strong leadership skills, ability to communicate with a diverse group of people, develop and execute formal presentations, as well as, facilitate decision making among groups both inside and outside Electric Distribution Systems and Energy Services. Additionally, the position will manage projects and/or write work orders related to this work. This is accomplished through a work management system, Adobe Acrobat Professional or some other graphics software. This position is an Emergency Duty position. As such, it is required to report to work during periods of adverse weather or other University emergency. The position is considered critical to the safe and continued operation of the University.  
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in the engineering discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience Some positions may require licensure by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
