Educational Technology Services (ETS), a division of IT Services, provides technology services, support, and resources to the UC San Diego academic community, facilitating teaching and learning in service of the University's educational mission.

As part of EdTech Support in ETS, the Educational Technology Support Assistant position provides email, phone, virtual and in person faculty support for the learning management system (LMS) and related instructional technology tools and services. Essential functions include phone and email consultation and support to faculty and providing tutorials and documentation for UC San Diego faculty and staff.

* Performs additional functions incidental to technology support activities

  • Degree or course work, preferably in an instructional technology, information technology, or education-related discipline. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and other EdTech tools.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information and instructions to faculty, staff and students exercising tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.

  • Experience working successfully in a team and customer service environment, with emphasis on high-quality of service and prompt response to inquiries or other needs for assistance.

  • Two years of experience in a technical customer service support environment.

  • Ability to assess needs of user base (faculty, staff, students) and tailor support based on their needs.

  • Demonstrated ability to document and maintain documentation of support procedures.

  • Employee must be available to work evenings and weekends.

  • Employee must be available to travel as required.

  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on background check results.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $62,744 - $89,700 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.05 - $42.96

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
