Job Summary:

The Educational Technology Specialist will work as a part of a team to design, develop, deliver and support online and blended programs at Tufts University.  This includes collaborating with and supporting faculty on the design, development, launch, and on-going support of online and hybrid courses. S/he will manage the online course development process, conduct course quality reviews, provide recommendations for course improvement, and promote good practices of teaching and learning with technology; S/he will partner with faculty and videographers in the development and production of multimedia (including audio, video, and graphic production) for online delivery.  The position collaborates fluidly with professionals across the University who also support the work of faculty and students engaged in online learning.  This is a remote position.

 

Qualifications

 

Basic Requirements:

  • The knowledge and skills that are typically acquired through a Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in online course design, instructional design, development, and partnering with faculty support of online courses.
  • Experience with both enterprise and common 3rd party tools used in online courses, and the ability to quickly learn new technical skills. 
  • Multimedia production skills, such as video production and editing, or equivalent. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional customer service and communication skills, including presentation skills and written communication skills, as well as superior collaboration skills. Ability to communicate skillfully with and translate between technical and non-technical faculty, staff, and students.
  • Demonstrated abilities in client support, technical troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with best practices in higher education teaching, learning, and assessment and associated technologies and integrating this information into faculty development and consultation activities.
  • Project management skills, including demonstrated competency in both guiding and contributing expertise to interdisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or equivalent
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience supporting classroom response systems, lecture capture technologies, and mobile device applications for teaching and learning
